Privacy Policy

JC Solar and Electrical is a small, family-run solar and electrical business based in Mount Gambier. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can see or fix what we hold about you. It's written to follow the Australian Privacy Principles.

Who we are

JC Solar and Electrical SA is a registered business name of JC Solar and Electrical VIC Pty Ltd, ABN 93 673 632 650. When this policy says "we" or "us", that's who it means.

What we collect

  • When you send our quote form: your name, mobile number, email address, the address of the job, and the service you picked. The form also tells us which page you sent it from.
  • When you call, text or email us: your number or email address, and anything you tell us.
  • When you fill in a form in one of our Facebook or Instagram ads: Meta sends us the details you typed into that form.
  • When you go ahead with a job: what we need to quote it, do it and finish the paperwork. That can include power bills, rebate forms and electrical compliance certificates.
  • When you browse this website: the pages you look at, the device and browser you use, your rough location, and how you found us. This comes from cookies and similar tools. See "Cookies and tracking" below.

You don't have to tell us who you are to read this website. But we can't quote a job without a name and a way to reach you.

Why we collect it

  • To call you back, answer your questions and quote your job.
  • To do the work, and to handle the rebate and compliance paperwork that goes with it.
  • To keep the business records the law asks us to keep.
  • To see how our website and ads are working, and to show our ads to people who are likely to need us.

We don't sell or rent your details to anyone.

Who we share it with

We only share what each one needs to do its job for us:

  • Our web and marketing agency, who runs this website and our ads, and helps us keep track of enquiries.
  • Our website host, which runs this site on a server in Australia.
  • Email and text message services. Your website enquiry comes to us by email and as a text to our business phone. If you send your details through a Facebook or Instagram ad, they go into a Google spreadsheet we use to track enquiries, and a text service sends you a message to say we got them.
  • Google, for our business email, website stats (Google Analytics) and Google ads.
  • Microsoft, for Clarity, which shows us how people use our pages.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for our ads. When you send our quote form, we send Meta a scrambled copy of your name, email and phone, plus your IP address and browser details, so it can tell us which ads bring in enquiries.
  • Rebate programs, your power network and regulators, when your job needs it.
  • Anyone else the law requires us to tell.

Information that goes overseas

Google, Meta and Microsoft are based in the United States, and the service that sends our website emails is based in France. Information these companies handle for us may be stored or processed outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe.

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files your browser keeps. This website uses them, and similar tools, for these jobs:

  • Google Analytics counts visits and shows us which pages people find useful.
  • Google Ads tells us when someone who clicked one of our Google ads calls us or sends an enquiry. If you came from a Google ad, the phone number on the site may be a Google forwarding number. Google then tells us the call happened, how long it went for, and your area code.
  • Meta Pixel tells us which Facebook and Instagram ads lead to enquiries, and lets us show our ads to people who have visited this site.
  • Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can see where a page is hard to use.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site and quote form will still work. You can also:

How we store and protect it

Website enquiries come to our business email inbox and as a text to our business phone. This website doesn't keep its own copy. If our spam filter blocks a message, a record of it stays in the website's server logs. We take reasonable steps to protect what we hold from misuse, loss and access by people who shouldn't see it. We keep it while we need it for your job, our records and the law, then delete it or remove what identifies you.

Seeing or fixing your information

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to fix anything that's wrong, or ask us to delete it. Call or email us and we'll sort it out. Some records, like tax and compliance records, we have to keep by law, and we'll tell you if that applies.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your information, contact us first and we'll look into it. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
